Mechatronics engineers design, build and operate intelligent products and systems of today and for tomorrow. These engineers will be increasingly in demand as more industries seek to apply evolutionary advances in computers, electronics, sensors and actuators to improve products processes and services. The integration between component (hardware) and the information drive functions (software) results in integrated systems Mechatronics systems. Mechatronics is still an emerging field and can sometimes be labeled as Asset Management. The B.E degree program in Mechatronics Engineering, affiliated with Anna University was started in the academic year 2012-2013 in our college. It is a multi disciplinary branch with various opportunities. The department has eight qualified staff members with well established laboratories’ such as Applied Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Sensors and Signal Processing, PLC, CNC and Mechatronics. Modern gadgets and latest version of equipments are used in these laboratories. The Department has strong research programmes leading to Ph.D. degree in all the areas of Mechatronics Engineering. A large number of Ph.D. scholars are currently engaged in cutting edge research in the department.
